Our assistant rector...

Fr. John Burton began serving at St. Paul's as an Assistant Priest in the Spring of 2009. Father likes to point out to parishioners that his position is honorary and non-stipendiary which means he does not receive any pay! Father believes with the whole of the Catholic Church that 'thou art a Priest forever' and thus even in retirement a priest finds an Altar and Parish in which to serve. Father regularly con-celebrates the 10:30am Mass, helps with the administration of Holy Communion and preaches on the last Sunday of each month at the 10:30am Mass. He has also graciously helped the rector with taking Holy Communion to the shut-in.

Father Burton was born August 29, 1922. He is married to his lovely wife Leonora since 1951. They have 2 adult children. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America for many years achieving the Silver Beaver and St. George Medal. He served in Cyprus from 1938 - 1941, in the RAF from 1941-1947 and in Tanganyika from 1947 - 1951.

Father enjoys the ethnic diversity (Father can speak Swahili with many of our African parishioners), the traditional teaching and Anglo-Catholic practice of St. Paul's, as well as the many friends and discussions at Coffee Hour.
