The
Blessing of Animals & Pets
Welcome to the
traditional remembrance of the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi.
St. Francis was an animal lover like most of us. He has long been
held as the patron saint of all living creatures and his name
invoked in the blessing of pets. If you have ever found yourself
talking to your pet or other animals as you take a walk, you are
in good company. St. Francis regularly spoke to the animal kingdom,
feeling sometimes they were the only ones listening to his message
of peace, kindness and God's Love.
So it is an
appropriate day to ask God's blessing on our beloved friends of
the animal kingdom. The blessing takes place in the Nave toward
the Choir stairs. A light reception of goodies for the 4-legged
and the 2-legged will be held in the Parish Hall. Thank you for
joining us in today's celebration.
